Introduction

Dyspnea
Dyspnea or shortness of breath (SOB), is the subjective symptom of breathlessness. It is a normal symptom of heavy exertion but becomes pathological if it occurs in unexpected situations. In 85% of cases it is due to either asthma, pneumonia, cardiac ischemia, interstitial lung disease, congestive heart failure, chronic obstructive pulmonary disease, or psychogenic causes. Treatment typically depends on the underlying cause. Definition American Thoracic Society
“A subjective experience of breathing discomfort that consists of qualitatively distinct sensations that vary in intensity”

Non-Small Cell Lung Cancer
There are several types of non-small cell lung cancer (NSCLC). Each type of NSCLC has different kinds of cancer cells. The cancer cells of each type grow and spread in different ways. The types on NSCLC are named for the kinds of cell found in the cancer and how the cells look under a microscope:

Other less common types of NSCLC are: pleomorphic, carcinoid tumor, salivary gland carcinoma and unclassified carcinoma.

Research On Improving Cancer
"This has been mainly due to a better integration of chemotherapy and radiotherapy, more effective drugs and to improvements in radiotherapy schedules"
Proposed models:
  • Radiation dose-escalation
  • Radiation-induced lung toxicity (RILT)
  • Dose-volume relationship to RILT
  • Mean lung dose (MLD) etc
however, none have a clear clinical advantage over the other.
